Stated Aims
BEXLEY COUNCIL FOR RACIAL EQUALITY WORKS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LOCAL AUTHORITY, POLICE, PRIMARY CARE TRUST AND VOLUNTARY SECTOR ORGANISATIONS TO PROMOTE RACIAL TOLERANCE AND TACKLE RACIAL HATRED WHEREVER IT EXISTS WITHIN THE BOROUGH. WE AIM TO IMPROVE RACIAL EQUALITY, SOCIAL COHESION AND REDUCE RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AND DISADVANTAGE IN EVERY WALK OF LIFE IN THE BOROUGH.
Context
Became aware of them in a news item where a press release, without any hint of irony, explained that on the 8th December 2008 a 5 member government delegation from China visited their "world renowned" centre to find out how it works as the voice of marginalised people.
Details:
2008 accounts show a total income of £176,409, of which:
- Commission for Racial Equality: £25,000
- Bexley Council: £121,811
- Bexley Care Trust: £24,215
--- - Total £171,026 (97% of all income from donations)
The remaining £5,383 (3%) came from interest accrued and 'other'. There is no record of any voluntary donations from the public.
