THE CHARITY HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED TO:

            - ENHANCE THE EMOTIONAL HEALTH OF YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH COUNSELLING, SUPPORT AND THERAPEUTIC USE OF THE ARTS; 

          -  SUPPORT SCHOOLS AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS IN ADDRESSING THE EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE APPROPRIATELY;  

        -  UNDERTAKE ANY OTHER CHARITABLE ACTIVITY

Summary

Kids Company was founded by Camila Batmanghelidjh, who regularly appears in the media with her idiosyncratic views on juvenile crime. Undoubtedly sincere in her dedication to child welfare, some people consider her ideas to be hippy psycho-babble.

Details

Its 2007 accounts show a total income of £7,803,190, of which:

• Central government: £897,750 (11.5% of total income)
   

However, this is about to increase drastically, as the Kids Company website reports: 

In April 2008 Kids Company was granted funding of £12.7 million over three years from the Department for Children, Schools and Families, through the Youth Sector Development Fund.
