Stated Aims

THE NATIONAL YOUTH AGENCY WORKS WITH ORGANISATIONS AND SERVICES TO IMPROVE THE LIFE CHANCES OF YOUNG PEOPLE AND ALSO WORKS DIRECTLY WITH YOUNG PEOPLE THEMSELVES TO DEVELOP THEIR VOICE AND INFLUENCE IN SHAPING AND SECURING SOCIAL JUSTICE.

Context

The National Youth Agency openly promotes government policy. For example, priorities outlined for next year include:

"To promote the effective participation of children and young people in decision making to ensure improved services and outcomes in line with the government's Every Child Matters priorities."

On 'child poverty':

"The National Youth Agency is one of the organisations supporting the End Child Poverty (ECP) campaign. ECP aims to help the government achieve its target to halve child poverty in the UK by 2010 and end it by 2020."

As is typical of a fake charity, NYA's role is largely political:

"Influencing central and local government policy, supporting campaigns and working with other influential bodies, are key parts of The National Youth Agency's work."

It is also keen to lower the voting age to 16.
